Many of us believe 3D printing is something that highly skilled engineers perform inside of labs creating things that may be cool, but not usable in regular applications. This is totally wrong! Many production companies are now using 3D models for their inventory to reduce or eliminate the need to hold inventory, instead creating exact customer requests custom without the need to create multiples and guesswork.
On a completely separate note, whereas now when one loses a limb, organ, or bone, one may be stuck with Terminator looking prosthesis or transplants that the body may reject. Scientists are actually using real cells to 3D print human organs and bones and other items (like dentures) and are in testing. Imagine having a nose reattached that looked exactly the patients former real nose (for an accident victim, for example). The possibilities are truly endless, and this is only one application of the thousands in 3D printing!!
Don't believe me? Google it ;)
